Hi all
I recently moved house and decided to use my existing 2021 phantom 1 stereo pair to double up as speakers for my tv. The speakers also play via wifi from a networked roon server (flawlessly) and music via airplay from phones etc (flawlessly). I can successfully play tv audio via the optical out on tv to the optical input on a phantom. However, despite toggling optical auto-switch to "on", this does not work. Every time I want to watch tv (irrespective of whether another source is playing) if the last played source was not the tv, there is no sound until I open the app on my phone, navigate to the source selection and choose optical. Then it switches.
Not only is this a pain to do every time, and means no guest could watch my tv unless they have the devialet app, but it also defeats my goal of using a URC universal remote to control all media. I had relied on the auto-switch working as, as far as I am aware, there is no way to get the URC to switch the phantoms. I would be delighted to discover there are codes the URC could use but suspect I need to just get auto optical switching working. Playing the roon server via an optical out and buying a URC controllable optical switch is another fallback option. Then both roon and tv could connect to phantom optical input and that source could remain perpetually active. Would still leave airplay as a problem though...
Any ideas? I think my auto optical switch did work when I tried it a few years back in my old set up (which had hi res music files on a NAS played via sonos connect optical to phantom). But not sure. I have obviously got all firmware up to date, and done a few cycles of resets of the phantoms. Problem persists.
Happy New Year
