Optical in for Phantom gold

Dear all,

I am new here, coming from Brussels and happy to know more about Devialet products.

My father-in-law ows a Phantom Gold for a few years.

He would like to have the possibility to read CDs on it.

So I would like to offer him a CD player with optical output + cable.

Very difficult to find such a CD player ; I called some shops yesterday and the best price was 600€.


So I have a stupid question : is it going to work if I connect it on a DVD player with optical output ?

I have two blu-ray players (Sony, Samsung) and a DVD player (Toshiba).

All have optical out.

All have the menu option to restrict the digital out to basic 2-channel PCM which would be exactly the same as what would be sent by a CD player with optical out, and have been usable as such with standard 2-channel equipment.

To reassure yourself, you could download the manual of the player you intend to buy - they tend to be easily available as PDFs on the web.
