Quote:[PHANTOM I & II] Release notes - DOS 2.18.1, 2, 3
This release requires Devialet app 1.23 or newer. DOS 2.18.1 is release on the 16th December2024, it includes the following improvements, compared to DOS 2.17.6:
  • Faster and more robust product setup.
  • Devialet products can automatically turn off after a set period of inactivity, which can be adjusted in the app.
  • The IP Control API now supports all product features, including stereo and multi-room group configuration.
  • The default latency has been increased to 350ms for higher stability over Wi-Fi.
  • Setup mode has been removed, use Reset mode instead to perform a Wi-Fi setup.
  • Other bug fixes and improvements.
This release will be rolled out gradually over several weeks and is currently available only for the Phantom II product range.

My Phantom 1 (103) have upgraded to 2.18.2. Is there any significance in the variable last digit?…..perhaps reflecting different electronics in older generations?

I have upgraded to the .3 . I cannot see/hear any differences compared to the .2 that I had before. Also, with regards to running multiple phantoms linked there is no improvement compared to the faulty .1 release.

When running multiple pairs, linking them works sort of as before, but the app has to be restarted to show them properly. Not a big thing, but still annoying.

Volume control does not correctly show unless app is exited/opened again.

(As you can see I have plenty of Phantoms of different versions and also ages)

Is there any point doing this for devices in optical direct mode?

All of my phantom 1's are still running DOS1 in optical direct mode. I've asked Devialet if they should be upgraded and they said if it ain't broke then don't fix it...

after the update i feel like the vocals on songs i've listened to over and over feel more "centered" and "there". the feeling is the speakers which admittedly are not in the ideal positions (because of room limitations) are more invisible than ever.
it's the best my phantom gold 1's have ever sounded to me. if it's a placebo nobody talk me out of it. thanks

@njaiswal When I read comments like the one just before this one I feel like I should upgrade!

FWIW, i have recent problems with upgrades .0, .1 .2 now .3 all requiring a deliberate and intentional acts repeatedly to check, update, restart across devices seemingly 1 at a time to get them all to complete and get up to the same version on phantom I. the update process is not at all seamless and requires a lot of work to achieve a level up. its like a game sort of. to capture the sonic peach you must jump through the hoops first.
