Phantom Customs for surround sound and stands
#1
Hello!

As I take the next steps towards a surround setup, it's not financially realistic for me to buy everything in one go. Smile

I have two Phantom I Golds already, which will be my front left and right speakers. I want to get two Phantom II customs for Dante as the rears. These only come with one option, so that saves me having to figure out which model to get! But the stands (the Legs) aren't going to be great behind my sofa. They won't be high enough. Any ideas for something I could do that is more like the Trees? i.e. something that stands straight up to about seated ear level, and doesn't have a huge footprint?

I assume you cannot use the Gecko wall mounts?

As long as it can hold the weight of 4.3 kg, any lifestyle speaker stand should be OK. You may want to use double sided tape to prevent someone from accidentally pushing it of the stands.

No geckos in this position. They’re just behind the sofa.

It’s a shame Devialet didn’t consider this! I actually have a pair of Legs already. I was considering trying to modify them.

Thanks for the links I’ll check them out! It remains difficult to actually order the speakers. Devialet don’t reply to any emails.

I don't think Devialet sells the Phantom II Custom on their web shop. A local hifi shop used to have (Reactor)  Customs on display and did installations, but I do not know if they still do. You will probably have to get in touch with an installer to buy Customs. Quite strange and annoying. I had one single response from Devialet Professional some time ago, but no answers to follow-up emails. The response I did get was on the arrogant side of neutral...

I did notice that a local Hi-fi shop advertised on their website custom Phantom IIs. But they are not known for their investigation service. Maybe Devialet have changed their distribution method?

You may not even need any tape.  My phantoms never move when playing at volume and are difficult to move after resting on the shelf, stand, or counter for a while...

This is good to know. I’ve found an installer who can help and is expecting some Black Friday sales so I should be taking my firsts steps soon. And the Arvus H1-D will be in beta soon too!
