Input selection
#1
Hi,

first post, in about a week or so I plan to replace most of my old system with a stereo pair of Phantom 1s

There'll be three sources...

i) streaming from Roon/whatever via ethernet
ii) vinyl via optical from a Waxwing
iii) tv via optical

My plan is to connect each Phantom to my ethernet switch, for streaming access and data path between speakers.

That leaves the two optical sources.

I'm not familiar with the Devialet app and can't really explore it until the Phantoms are there, what's the best option for optical connection and input selection?

a) Can I connect one optical source to each Phantom, and choose which is active (or streaming) from the app?

b) Or is it better/necessary to fit a separate switch box to choose the optical source, and have a single optical connection to one of the Phantoms?

c) Or is there another/better way? for instance I see the old Dialog boxes have optical->ethernet, though only one, but I could pick up a couple on ebay/wherever and then it'd be just ethernet to the Phantoms, saves running a more delicate optical cable to one/both of the Phantoms.

Thanks

A) Yes
B) No
C) Good idea if you need another optical input. The system only supports one Dialog.

Merry Christmas!

You can have optical into one and optical into another and switch between these in the app.
