I sold my Olive One the same day i got it. The delivery was more then one year late Confused The screen is really poor compared to anything in the last 10 years. Nothing for Devialet to worry about Cool

Kii Audio THREE? See: http://www.kii.audio
The German/Dutch startup looks very similar to Devialet. Did anyone hear the Kii THREE or even could compare it to the Phantoms? Similar concept, similar specs, rather more connective with Pro equipment. Curious to see the similarities, and a comparison! Will this be the direct competitor in the future?

Yes Keith (Purite Audio) has been banging on about it on the Pink Fish Forum. Says its much better than Phantom (but he would wouldn't he) It is a straight forward class d amp with signal processing, none of the adh tech of Phantom - which may be good or bad depending on your point of view.
UK kit - Technics SP10 - Technics EPA-501  - AT33SA - NUC5i3 - W10 - Roonserver - Roon AIR - Devialet 1000 Pro CI - Blue Jeans Speaker Cable (0.5 metre each side) - Magico S5

Spain kit - NUC7i5 - W10  - Roonserver - Roon AIR - Devialet D250 Pro CI - Blue Jeans Speaker Cable - Ergo IX speakers

The Olive is not even on the same planet. It has as much in common with the Phantoms as I have with a Martian. Honestly. I had one and sold it. Its a STREAMER and nothing more!!

I attended a demo of these in Munich. Quite impressive but I don't think they are really competitors to Phantom for 2 reasons: 1) price: they are going to retail at 8k+ euros for a pair and 2) form factor: they are considerably bigger than the Phantoms, I think they weigh 15 kgs each.

They do plan on bringing out smaller versions (the "three" falls in the middle of the range and is their first model to be released) so that might change of course.

They do a clever thing of projecting the sound forward so that if you stand behind the speaker it is quite quiet, despite the presence of two drivers facing the back of the speaker. They played very loud with virtually no distortion and had a very clean and refined midrange. Plenty of bass too. Some good connectivity options including analog inputs, AES/EBU digital and WISA for wireless, and will come in many different colours.

I only heard the speakers in a recording studio so it would be interesting to see how they behave in real life conditions.

I have tried lots of competitors that look nice. Zeppelin Air, Libratone live and lounge, B&O A9, Sonos. Nothing comes even close to a normal stereo setup.
When you're spending 10k on a decent hifi set you have lots of options that are better of course.
But two things:
My Phantoms are in such a different league that I can only compare them to serious high end setups in the 20.000+ range.
If I read here of people with setups t w i c e that price and how close the Phantoms are when compared, then there is only one conclusion for me: Phantoms are probably the best choice available. Very high quality, very reasonable pricerange.

I guess these will compete directly to Phantoms: http://kiiaudio.com/tech-acou.html

Supposedly they will be a bit more expensive, but still reasonable priced (not sure what that means Smile )
Anyhow, exciting times in front of us.
