Power draw of the 120?
#1
Anyone have an idea how many watts the 120 pulls from the wall when playing?  I've just ordered one, and would like to try plugging it into my PS Audio Powerplant 300.

The PS can only handle 300 watts total draw, and I don't want to fry it.

Thanks in advance.

you should try if the Powerplant is still an improvement with the 120. During normal volumes the Devialet consumes maybe 30-40 watts. But the PS can deliver up to 3000W for a 200 or 250. So maybe 2000 for the 120 ? Only for a short impuls, but maybe the PS-Audio is a bottleneck under some conditions...

Thanks for the draw numbers.  Can I ask how you know this?

The Powerplant I have shuts down if the draw exceeds 300 watts.

On a crude level the Devialet is pretty efficient so if it was drawing its maximum power it would be drawing 240W plus losses from the mains. Unlikely to exceed 300W but close.

240W is only the continuous power delivery. The power supply can deliver much more for a short time. And the switching PS of the Devialet cannot buffer large amounts of current. So my question is if the PS-Audio can be a limitation...

According to the specification on the Devialet web-site the 120 has a : "switched-mode power supply 600W continuous, 2400W peak power"

The D200's power supply is rated at 600W continuous, 3000W peak power.

Thanks Phil - sounds like it's best not to risk overloading the PowerPlant.  I just updated to dedicated 20 amp lines - I'll leave it at that for the 120.

For Power condition (VENOM PS8)

Should this work ? or any other suggested equivalent? Specs are promising.

20A Continuous - This is lot of power.
200Amps (800ms) - is more that sufficient can support 1.25Hz.
