Problems with firmware upgrade
#1
I had a D400 for about six years before trading it in an abandoning Devialet as a brand completely. For the last year I have been using a Gryphon Diablo 300 with the built in DAC.

However, for various reasons I decided to give Devialet a go once more. Right now I have a borrowed D1000 Pro at home for a week or two. The units current firmware is 10.1.0 and I would of course like it to be upgraded to the latest version.

I have downloaded and unzipped the file as usual, copied it to the SD cards, etc. but the damn thing won’t update! It simply doesn’t acknowledge the new firmware at all and both units starts up with the same old 10.1.0 version, without going through the update cycle.

The only way to get a response is to add a configuration file to the firmware files but then I’m greeted with “PLEASE CONTACT SUPPORTDEVIALET.COM, WRONG CONFIG” After that it starts with factory configurations.

I have tried to update each units separately as D250’s but the result is the same.

I have tried to format the SD cards but the result is the same.

I have tried to update using earlier versions of firmware but the results are the same.

I have spent over five hours on this and I’m starting to feel frustrated for real.

Does anybody know what to do? Please, help...

For Firmware 13.2.0 you should unzip the file and then from within that folder copy all the files, 12 .hex and 2.txt files directly to the root of the SD card with nothing else on the card. Then pull the power cord out, insert the SD card, plug the power back in. If I remember correctly it doesn't work by just turning it off using the button on the front. Each 250 Pro has to be done separately.

Are you sure the amps have the Core Infinity board installed? If the amps run on the 10.x firmware they are most likely not equipped with the CI

Make sure that SD card has the correct type, size and format type:

I have thought a bit more about this. If the amplifiers run on 10.1.0 it's pre CI. Still might be a Pro, but without the CI board installed. Firmwares made for the new architecture (CI Board, dos2.x 12.x 13.x) will correctly be rejected.

EDIT: it would also be impossible to load 10.1.0 on a Pro amplifier with the CI board installed. It's not compatible. @MightyMart installation of the CI board in Pro amps should be free. Check with Devialet Support

Thanks guys for all your replies! This forum is still amazing and one of the reasons I’m considering the move back to Devialet.

The question of CI never entered my mind but sounds very feasible. Is there an easy way of determining if the units are equipped or not?

Regarding the Configurator - does it still work with non-CI units? The thing is, I have downloaded new configuration files with SAM enabled etc. for the D1000 Pro. (Right now, I also have the new Magico A1 on loan and would of course like to hear it using SAM activated.) However, when I have added a newly created configuration file to the FW files in the SD card or if I have only added a configuration file on blank SD cards I’m greeted with the “WRONG CONFIGURATION” in the display.

The only time the message of wrong configuration is not put on the display is when no configuration file has been added.

Might work if you select 'Expert' and '800'. Will bring up two 250 amps in mono mode. I think Devialet has removed Configurator settings for Pro amps without CI installed.

Is there a solid copper bottom cover and back plate on the amps? I seem to remember that the Pro (before CI) upgrade came back with copper. Does it say 'Pro' somewhere? In one of the display pages?

The simplest physical clue which indicates whether the CI board is installed is to look at the back of the amp. If there is a wifi antenna sticking out, the CI board is installed. No visible wifi antenna, then the antenna is internal and the amp does not have the CI board.

Should it turn out you do have the CI board and there's something you've done wrong;
