Apple tvOS 26 - AirPlay permanent speaker

Apple has unveiled its new Apple TV software, tvOS26, which now supports a permanent AirPlay connection not only to HomePods but also to other AirPlay speaker. This means that the Phantom can be used with another device (Blue-Ray Player, PS5, etc.) while connecting to Apple TV via AirPlay due to the ARC feature of Apple TV. The connection is also said to have low latency, at least when used with Homepods in the former Apple TV OS.

Could this now be a strong alternative to an optical connection?

It might be low latency, but I think it would still be an issue for gaming. The ATV can add a video delay for syncing so should work great for that!
