Roon Setup
#1
Merry Christmas all!

I am looking to set up Roon with my pair of Phantom 103's.
Interested in getting a Room Nucleus + since it offers the DSP EQ functions and my room needs some bass corrections due to the amazing bass response of the Phantoms.

Any guidance on what I need to buy and how to setup?

Thank you!

The cheapest and easiest way to get Roon is to buy an Intel NUC and install Roon ROCK. You'll get the same performance as a Nucleus, included DSP functionality, to a fraction of the price.

That's an awesome tip! thanks.
Does the NUC connect to the Phantoms via optical or wifi?

It's recommended to connect the NUC to your local network via ethernet for stability. The speakers can be connected via WiFi or ethernet. As long as the speakers and the NUC are on the same network you're OK.

An 8th generation Intel NUC should be sufficient. No need to break the bank.

As @ragwo recommends I’m using a NUC (in my case a 10gen) attached wired to the network (Eero pro mesh) and in other rooms have the Phantoms wirelessly connected to the network and Roon. Dead stable, fast and without dropouts streaming local files and from Qobuz. I’m also using Roon’s DSP for room correction with filters designed by HAF (Thierry’s home audio fidelity service) https://www.homeaudiofidelity.com/

Hello
how does HAF improve the SQ in your setup? What are the benefits?

Thanks
