'RoonReady' not coming to Devialet….

[scrapped post as realised my comment was related to Air not USB]

Below are my experiences with Roon on Mac and Win10 via AIR:

Win10 + AIR2.1.3: Exclusive, Event-driven Mode= Working
Win10 + AIR2.1.3 + JPlay 6.2: Exclusive, Event-driven Mode = Working

OSX10 + AIR2.1.3: Exclusive, Integer Mode = Not working

If you use USB connection, both Win10 and OSX10 has no problem setting Roon audio output with Exclusive and Event-driven (Integer) modes.
Before: Le200, KEF LS50, AQ Type4, NUC 5i5RYH/8GB/128GB M.2SSD, Roon, Win8.1/AIR2.1.3/RoonBridge, MM/AIR3/RoonBridge, QNAP TS-212P 5TB NAS, AQ NRG-X3

Now: KEF LS50W, NUC5i5RYH/8GB/128GB M.2SSD, Roon, QNAP TS-212P 5TB NAS,iFi iSilencer3.0+DC iPurifier+iPurifier2, Sonos ZP80+SPDIF iPurifier

If we were to use USB interface, we would just have to put our NUC/Mac Mini with RoonServer close to our Expert amp and using Roon Remote for song selection/playback.

thanks, this is good to know. Considered the price of a NUC/Mac mini this could be a viable solution still cost effective.

I got more or less the same answer as others on my question to Devialet. They think Roon is very good as well, they like it a lot, it's not on the roadmap to implement.
Still hoping Aurender will implement RoonReady for all their devices.

I´m searching for a full ROON integration, using a Phantom, a Dialog and an Expert.

I have a Sonos Connect and an Auralic Aries Mini -but for both systems ROON will not come. Sonos further doesn´t support highres playback.

I don´t like systems, which force me to switch them first on before I can hear music. I want to hear music without using more than one app or going through a lot of menues.

Would it be a comfortable solution to sell the Sonos and the Aries Mini and replace it with an Apple Mini with Roon connected by USB to the Expert and by optical out to the Dialog controlled with an ipad by Roon remote ?

Would it be necessary to switch the Apple Mini on or how can I wake him up ?

How can I comfortable switch between USB out and optical audio out on the Mac mini or isn´t it possible ?

Thanks !

As far as I know, Auralic planned to make the Aries mini RoonReady, although it's not officially confirmed they said as much.... Might be worth waiting a little longer?

I got answers from Auralic which don´t make me optimistic.

The problem for Auralic is, that they have to make a difference between the expensive highend Aries femto (1750 €) and LE streamers and the Mini (500 €) to justify the big price gap.

So an other option is to sell the Mini and buy an Aries femto... This would be much more expensive than buying an Apple Mini.

If you were thinking along those lines midi, and you just wanted a RoonReady device to connect via USB, I would seriously consider the sonicorbiterSE. Haven't heard one but by all accounts the Sonore guys have a specialist OS running a very minimalist system designed for audio, and first impressions of it are really good.

I assume you already have a computer running the roonserver, so i think you'd better SQ using something optimised for audio rather than a Mac mini. That said I doubt the orbiter has optical out.

A mini will always be a useful computer if you're a Mac household and the resell is good - I bought mine second hand at slightly reduced price, and put an SSD in and it's great, but it wasn't as good as the Aurender I tried and I sure most is down to it being a generic computer. Ithink Amazon often have the  older model (I have, can't remember year) you can upgrade at a decent price.

I'm not sure you can have both toslink and USB audio device plugged in together and be able to output via either - someone here will probably know though.

What did Auralic say? I know a lot of people are waiting for mini compatibility, but I suppose like you say it is the entry-level model so maybe they decided not to put everything on it. Fair enough I suppose as it is a DAc as well, so still a bargain piece of kit.

(Apologies for typos - bl***y iPad)

Thanks ! The Sonicorbiter is interesting.
