The companion units will be discontinued and will no longer be produced in the future. There is only a sale of our stock. To upgrade from stereo to dual mono, you only need to purchase a second amplifier and a digital cable!!! (Devialet Homepage)

Would the current "old stock" of companions therefore be on sale? Or am I misunderstanding this.

My understanding (although I could be wrong), is that any Companion (220 or 250) that was sent in for the CI upgrade was essentially returned as a full 220 or 250.  I'm pretty sure that happened with the CI update but I suppose it could have occurred with the Pro update.    Can anyone confirm this?

It didn't impact me because I was already running two full-up 220s as a 440.

I think it's a smart move on Devialet's part to streamline the product line, making it 3 tier with the ability to make each dual mono.

220/440
250/1000

Now if only they can explain the naming/numbering assignments ;-)

Confirmed - I sent a 250 Pro companion away and have got back a brand new 250 Pro CI.  Box is branded as 250 Pro and the amp inside looks like a factory fresh unit.  It's almost certainly not the amp I sent to them - not that I'm complaining about it as it gives me much more flexibility in either rebuilding the D1000, having 2x D250 systems in different rooms or downsizing to a 250 Pro only and releasing some cash.

Nothing to complain about there, I paid extra for my pair of D-Premiers to be upgraded to individual 250Pro's, whereas I could have saved money by only upgrading to a 1000Pro (Master & Companion). The fact that all 250Pro's are nw being upgraded to Master irrespective if single or part of a D800 or 1000Pro dual set-up is nothing to be complaining about (not saying you are complaining just a general turn off phrase).
