Is anyone here feeding the Micro Rendu with Squeezelite into a Devialet w/o issues? Thanks.

I'm not going to write much tonight as I want to listen for a bit....

There's heavy expectation bias here so I'm aware of that and will do some AB later in the week to cross-check, but tonight it's just music. And Smile so far.

The longest part of the setup was getting the plastic wrapper off the ifi supply, and then working out how the box opened. Once I'd done that everything seemed easy Wink

I expected to be disappointed because I've had a week or so of Dirac, and when I toggle it off I'm usually a bit disappointed. But here I was listening to pretty solid bass, and detailed and layered with it. Had a few cable swaps and Intona in and out just because the lid was off and I was poking around. I settled using the totalDac USB direct for tonight.

Whether it's bias, or just elation at finally getting it or whatever, tonight it doesn't matter. Music's coming out and I like it. It's probably a bigger leap for me than I was expecting from Antoines notes. Let's see if it holds a few days in.......

Have fun with it Steve.   My guess is that by Wednesday or Thursday you'll really be amazed.  I switched back to Air2 today after listening to the uRendu for the last 4 days straight.  It still sounds good, but for some reason, someone put up a curtain between me and the speakers.  Detail, presence and soundstage just aren't the same.

Thanks Mike.

I did wake up this morning and wonder if I should have held off posting last night, just incase it doesn't quite live up to expectation over the coming days if you know what I mean..... I left it playing silently overnight and today, so will have another go this evening. One thing that occurred to me was the impression a Chemical Brothers track played through the Aurender N100 left on me when I did a home demo quite a while ago - the detail was just amazing - and I don't know if we're in that league with the rendu although I certainly hope so. I'll try and dig out the track and see if I get a similar sensation.

The uRendu itself seemed warm at best this morning - I was expecting it to be quite hot based on some other reports of people using the 9V ifi. That said the D200 seemed a bit warmer to touch than usual. Maybe I just don't check it right in the top corners very often (its wall mounted), but they seemed a touch hotter. I have enabled wifi which is normally off, but I would presume that makes little temp difference.

I did notice the very slight lag of a network based adapter. Not a problem at all but its amazing how we get so used to something being 'instant'. At least Roon optimise the buffering for you so you know its as fast and efficient as it can be and don't have to set anything.

I've got a busy week and weekend ahead, but if I have time I'll do a comparison with AIR3 once things have settled. It means moving my Mac somewhere else (ironically, to upstairs - where it should have been when I first bought the Devialet) as I've only got 2 network ports in that corner of the lounge. Before I do that though I want to compare a few other things.

I've also got a strange urge to open it up and see what's inside - its such a nicely designed case but its so tiny and light its hard to believe there's anything much in there!

Mike - have you tried an AIR3 comparison? And as a reminder, are you using the ifi or a more exotic PS?

There are so many good reports here - I'm finding it really interesting to hear what everyone thinks of the uRendu, so thanks to all who've taken the trouble to write up their experiences.

(I'm desperately trying to resist the temptation to get one just to play with...not that I really need one, but it might be fun...so in a sense all these positive reports really aren't helping!)
