Spark vs. Bluesound node2+Roon?
#1
Hi, I have two golds and a dialog. My setup is Bluesound node 2->phantom (using optical) and Roon. I was happy with the sound but yesterday I listened to the same source on Spark. Can’t say it sounded a lot better but it was different—punchier but less analog-y. My wife thought Spark sounded better.
My question is, is it possible for BSN2+Roon could sound worse than just Spark?

Just noticed this threat and even though it the it is a bit stale, I thought I’d share a story involving me and my ex.  We were living together in a small apartment and one day I walked into the kitchen where she was listening to, and more importantly, enjoying music on a teeny tiny stereo system.  I immediately could tell she was listening to the music in mono and went over and pressed the stereo button which immediately produced a fully, deeper, more lively musical presentation to my ears.  “There!” I said, “Doesn’t that sound better?” My Ex paused and said, “ Hmmm it is definitely different; Not certain it is better.”  I was shocked by her inability to appreciate the obvious improvement in sound and said as much.  To which she replied, “All I know is that I was enjoying the song until you messed with the stereo.”  Ever since then I realized that the perception and appreciation of sound is different to different ears and that a “better” sound doesn’t always result in the best musical experience.  So the short answer to your question is yes.
