I´ll answer myself and give you all fellow Devialet Expert Pro owners my experiences and 5 cents:
The other week I had by far my best Devialet support experience this far, the answering frequency was satisfying, the support member did not suddenly stop answering and I pretty much got answers to all of my questions, so here we go:
1. It´s definitely worth trying out! My base response got less boomy with the filters activated and vocals were lifted, more natural and "floating", with the filters activated. Not a night-and-day difference, but then again I did not implement that "strong" filtering.
2. I, of course, haven´t investigated all the different possibilities REW offers, since I don´t know/ understand most of the features. However, with the help of Gemini (I think it was), I managed to do a first measurement with the MiniDSP Umik-1 after having downloaded REW, analyzed the resulting curves and implemented the filters in my Devialets.
3. I implemented different filters for left and right channel, since I have an asymmetrical setup, with different challenges for left and right channel. According to Devialet (this might also be mentioned at their web-page), there is a bug resulting in the Companion´s display not switching when you change between "Main" and "Alternate" with the remote. However, the units change "simultaneously" between filters on/off even if it doesn´t say so on both displays. According to the support, it´s important to follow the order strictly when writing the eq-file, i.e. use the example (the attachment) on the web page.
* "Additionally, the Tone Control Frequency Adjustment is restricted to 100 Hz for Bass and cannot be changed."
* "When SAM is engaged, the number of active Sweet Room filters is typically limited to 5 or 6 per channel."
I understand that this is an ongoing process, meaning you might want to do repeated measurements if changing the positioning of your speakers or introducing new furniture, etc. However, being someone who rarely sits down and listens and just want an "overall" good sound, I must say Sweet Room improved the sound in my apartment (I do understand ultimately the sound differs at different positions and that I won´t experience the best sound my system is capable of if not measuring for the Sweet Spot and then placing myself there...).
