The 'dB' sign on display flashing in red colour when playing record
#1
Hi,

Just note that when I play a record using phono input, the sound seems to be louder than other input, and the 'dB' mark on both the display and the remote app on iPhone both flashing in red colour. I looked at the 'input level' on the display, it doesn't show clipping.

I did not notice this when I was using 8.3.1 s/w, now I have upgraded to 9.0.1, not sure whether this also happen to others who run 9.0.1.

I use a Denon DL-103R feeds to a SUT with a x13 multiply factor, and configure the Devialet to use MM. The output of the Denon is 0.25 mV, so multiple by 13 get around 3.3 mV. I tried to change the output to 4 mV from the remote, but same result.

Have you guys notice the 'dB' mark flashing when you play a record?

Thanks for any advice.

Lots of info on the subject here:

The key thing is, if you get the dreaded flashing light, you need to reduce the cartridge gain (increase input max voltage).

The flashing light indicates digital clipping, which form a sound quality perspective is very bad news!
