O wow, your not making it easy. I know someone who spend the better part of 2 years shopping for a turntable.
I think it depends how much you know or want to learn about turntables and setups and such. I really didn't (and still don't) want to concern myself with setting up the turntable, but I very much like the way a turntable and vinyl records sound like. After some research on the net and a visit to my audiodealer I bought a Clearaudio Concept MC. Very simple, no setup required and you can switch the RPM's with a knob. If you know how to set it up properly you might want to go for a Michell Gyro. If you want to spend an almost endless amount of cash upgrading a turntable you could buy a Linn LP12. If you first want to find out if you really like vinyl, buy something like a Rega RP1 or a Pro-Ject.

Having tried many different turntables and cartridges I have come to the realisation that Garrard were pretty good at making turntables. The 2 top of my list are the Garrard 301 and 401 depending on your view on their looks. There is a certain sense of pace from a good rim drive turntable that a belt drive cannot match. I use a Garrard 401 in a slate plinth and it is a great record playing system. If you like a retro look match that with an SME 3012 arm and you have a fabulous looking and sounding system.

Thanks for the replies so far.
MM or MC? And is there a difference?
Also what do you think of Transrotor Rossini? Does anyone has experience with the brand in general and of course particularly the Rossini model?

For the sake of learning imagine for a while that budget is not a concern.
Like imagine I have no clue what so ever. So what are the things to consider if I'm in the market for a Turntable?
Sorry if the question is wide open, but this is exactly the position I'm in.
