External phono preamp for Expert pro 140?

Thanks everyone. I have no hissing sound problem - the hiss is there but not audible when I play records.

- adjusting the SRA -> I did not know about that, but it seems like a risky endeavour
- contacting Rega -> I will give this a try though I expect they will advise me to buy their phono preamp
- adding a SUT -> So this would be a better option than a phono preamp if I understand correctly? 20 dB extra amplification sounds interesting but almost too much. In average I have to set the Expert volume around 10-15 dB louder on phono vs. digital sources.

Adjusting the SRA on my deck is easy. Two grub screws are loosened and the whole post slides up or down. YMMV.

Yes, typically Moving Coil uses a parallel resistor of about 100-200 Ohm to the coils. It is at the input of the pre-amp. If it is not fitted, the high freqency impulses overshoot.
Easiest is to solder a resistor into the phono plugs, parallel between the connectors.

The problem @Tanad has is that the impedance of the Devialet 140's phono stage is fixed at 47 ohms for MC, which is lower than the recommended 100 ohms.  Adding another resistor in parallel across the input, as you suggested, will lower the input impedance still more (to about 32 ohms), so it is counter-productive.

This needs a correction, sorry thumb5 - but the input of the Devialet is 47kOhm, means 47000! A parallel 100 Ohm gives 99,79 Ohm. This is much better than any tolerance that would be minimum 2% or 5% of these parts.

Are you sure that is true for the MC input? That would be a surprising design choice. That said, I must say I took €Tanad's post at face value so if the pbono stage does indeed have a 47 kohm loading for MC, I apologise.

The official MC loading for the Expert 140 cannot be found anywhere. I remember seeing that it is 47k(sorry)Ohms fixed for MM and MC on another thread of this forum, as an info disclosed by a Devialet representative to customers - but nothing official. Anyway, I was listening to Mac de Marco's Salad Days on vinyl - true, it's a particularly excellent pressing - this afternoon and it sounded so good I told myself after all perhaps I should not change anything on my setup... for now.
