Yes the white is easily loud enough!

I think what we have to remember about the Phantoms is that Devialet defied physics which said you need a box the size of a fridge to deliver 16Hz. As yet nobody has proved them wrong. So could it be, that again Devialet has 'defied' physics and given us truly 750/3000W ?

Of course Devialet have not defied physics, but understand it better and hence have achieved the 'impossible' by making a speaker the size of a crash helmet to go down to 16Hz. Do they know something about power delivery that we don't?

As Arthur C. Clarke said: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Curious, 99 db from what distance? If it is 1 meter, then if one is sitting 3 meters away, then the pressure is about 90db in free space. Of course, we are not generally listening in free space but there is still a drop. And there are some (not me) who routinely listen at concert levels which I think is over 90db.

As to many saying that after 40 or 70 it is too loud, I wonder if that is distortion. Usually distortion makes loud settings unbearable but very good systems without peaks can go very loud without the listener feeling uncomfortable. Just wondering out loud.

As to 3000 watts, it is clearly stated as peak, not continuous. If it is continuous, it will trip most home's fuses.

I took my silvers up to 75 at the weekend, as my brother didn't believe you could get that loudness and bass from such a small enclosure. Complete clarity, no distortion but my ears could not cope with the decibels for long. They really do what it says on the tin.

Just finished watching the Concert de Paris (and subsequent Eiffel Tower fireworks) live on TV.

The Silvers were set at 70 due to having no neighbours nearby (the fireworks stopped 20 minutes ago, at 01:40am here) and that channel (France 2) is a bit "quiet" compared to the other ones.

Overall everything sounded extremely good, two people remarked that it felt as if Lang Lang's piano was in the living room.

Oh why oh why couldn't Devialet have put massive blue lights and a 10-colour changing LED onto their amps. And a dancing 20-band Graphic Equalizer too.
