I think I knew that, but got carried away in an enthusiasm of over-configuration... RE: Cartridges and phono settings - jccox - 09-Mar-2015 (08-Mar-2015, 17:36)thumb5 Wrote: Hello! Thanks very much, Ian. I like what I am hearing so far with these settings. I'll experiment some over the next few weeks and see how it goes. I appreciate your suggestions! You did see f1eng's correction to my post, pointing out that you don't normally need/use capacitive loading with an MC cartridge? RE: Cartridges and phono settings - tof - 17-May-2015 Hi, anyone knows which settings I should configure for my Linn troïka?? Linn specifies: recommanded load 470 Ohms, output @ 5cm/s 1kHz: 300 uV I was thinking of - a max level of 500 uV, a loading resistance of 460 Ohms and a loading capacitance of 0 pF...am I right? many thanks JC RE: Cartridges and phono settings - daved0x01 - 01-Jun-2015 (17-May-2015, 16:12)tof Wrote: Hi, You can probably use a bit more gain (max level 300-350uV) for the Troika going on the spec. the other setting are spot on I would say (of course you can adjust all these parameters real time with RAM). Cheers Dave RE: Cartridges and phono settings - busaganashi - 08-Jun-2015 Does anyone use a Koetsu cartridge? The new RAM doesn't have Koetsu as one of the manufacturers. I'm using the Black Goldline. Here are the specs: Koetsu Black Goldline Technical Data [*]Body: anondized aluminum [*]Type: moving coil [*]Coil wiring: copper [*]Magnet: Samarium cobalt [*]Cantilever: boron [*]Output: .4mV [*]Frequency range: 20Hz-100kHz [*]Channel separation: 25dB/1kHz [*]Inner impedance: 5 ohms [*]Channel balance: .5dB/1kHz [*]Recommended impedance: 30 ohms [*]Weight: 10.8g [*]Compliance: 5x10-6cm/dyne at 100Hz [*]Tracking Force: 1.8-2.0g Thanks for any help. Dave RE: Cartridges and phono settings - Dr Tone - 28-Jun-2015 Picket up a Rega RP8 today with Apheta 2 cartridge. Oddly the devialet wants to set it at 200ohm and 500 microvolts, even though the cartridge specs say 100ohm and 350 microvolts. Anyway I set it to what the devialet wanted and then I figured I'd tweak on the fly. I go to tweak and the devialet tells me it's set at 2500 microvolts. The setting from my previous Sumiko cartridge, another bug. RE: Cartridges and phono settings - Dr Tone - 12-Jul-2015 Right now my magic setting for the Apheta 2 is 85 ohms, .35mV and 1.82g of tracking. |
