I appreciate the post, but after I posted the update I went off and forgot about things. It is a bit cleaner, and simpler and smaller than with the previous speakers, which was what we wanted to do with this change.
As much as I like to leave things alone and not fuss with them, I admit to some level of continuing interest in sound quality and the changes that come with editing the equipment. It has a strange pull that is hard to resist. And truly, I'm extremely pleased that this change has given me a different sound, but not one of lesser quality. Just different. So, thumbs up all around.
I sort of think of myself as a good example of how to fit your audio stuff into a room that doesn't really want audio stuff. Making it fit, and making it work here is a different game than working in more dedicated spaces. So far, this is working. Happy happy happy.
