It had been working without issues for years. My guess is auto update of the app…

Anybody else with this issue?

Cheers,
Bernard
Are you talking about the iPhone Expert app that looks like the physical remote (but without the buttons)?   If so, can you use the app to switch sources as well?  Does volume not work on any of them?   I did get myself in trouble once by setting one of my sources in the configurator to bypass and as such, neither the app nor physical remote could control the volume for that source (i.e. bypass).

But if the remote works for switching sources and on/off but not at all for volume, then I'd first reboot the phone.  And if still not working, cold reboot your Pro.  Last resort, delete and reinstall the app.

This happens for me every couple of months and seems to be a router problem, because rebooting that clears it. To clarify - on and off and source selection still works from the app, as does display of volume. But volume up and down does not work. Reboot router and all ok.

Hi guys, I jumped on the Devialet wagon back in 2013 with a D170 and have since then cycled through D400 and D1000. I ended up selling my D1000 shortly after it was rumoured that Devialet was about to end production. Since then I have gone back and forth with different amplifiers and DACs including Gryphon, Pass Labs and Vitus but never really found any lasting satisfaction and balance in the way it sounds. Yes, it's easy to find a more organic sound compared to Devialet with more texture and bass thump but I find myself having to focus more actively when listening to other amplifiers and the room gets easily overloaded with bloated bass.

I'm now considering buying a second hand D250 and go back to Devialet for the third time. Would this be a sane thing to do considering the company's failures to deliever on promises etc. or would it be a smart move, especially since the D250 would cost me less than 5000 EUR? Would it be possible to find something else for the same amount of money to compete with the D250 when it comes to sound quality?

Please give me some guidance here...

If you have a chance - try Simaudio Moon.

It reads like you're answering your own question; get another 250.

I haven't changed from my Od'A / 1000Pro, but I have listened to plenty of others in stores. Only a few brands have given me the same enjoyment as Devialet. Simaudio as per above, Electrocompaniet and Ypsilon. Simaudio is the only brand here that also has a remote control that could compete with the Devialet remote. I haven't heard the lower end of Simaudio with those remotes though, so you'll haven to find out for yourself.

I've been demoing and enjoying the Dan D'Agostino Pendulum, with the streamer and phono modules.

Thanks for all the input!

I'm now leaning towards getting a D250 together with a NAGRA Streamer. That way I'm not as dependent on the software compatability of the older D250 and can maximize the use of TIDAL and (soon available) Spotify lossless Connect. My only hesitation is regarding having to use a digital coax cable instead of the AES or Ethernet to connect to the Devialet.

The more thought I have given to this combination the more sense it seems to make. An older but still very capable and in many ways unique amplifier with a high end streamer... should be hard to go wrong.

Am using a Wattson Emerson Digital Streamer with my 440-Pro for about a year and "it's a clear case of no return". The Emerson does its job in a great way, provides AES/EBU into my 440-Pro. And I've learnt many have followed this route and they're super glad.

I ended up buying a D250 and a NAGRA Streamer that will be delivered next weekend. Third time I choose to get a Devialet amplifier. Not entirely sure if it is time for a celebration or a minor mental examination...
