Yes，indeed it is strange that AIR3.0 doesn't work well with RoonBridge. I've written in Roon's forum and hopefully they will have an answer for it.

Hi I have Air3.0 running over RoonBridge on OSX, Roon server running on Windows 10, my setting are Roon delay .1s and Air Delay 2000ms, and it's working flawlessly.

Well, my current setting for Roon on Mac is 0.0s delay and AIR delay of only 500ms. I think I will try to lower it further to 50ms.

Read this thread with interest. I'm quite new to computer audio and got some basic questions. Currently using a very simple setup, mac mini running audirvana with music on an external hd directly connected to my mini which is connected via usb to my dev. Don't have any router/wifi in my house.
If I want to try AIR3 can I hook up my mini with a direct ethernet cable? If so how important is the quality of the ethernet cable?
Besides downloading AIR3 and installing it, what else do I need to do? Guess enabling air and the ethernet input in the configurator. Anything else? Thanks in advance for any advice

DCS Network bridge connected with AQ diamond to Router and with special Belden 1694a digital cable (cable is cryoed, mechanical damped and using very high quality solder to KLEI Harmony Bullet plug)
S/C is Shunyata biwire Delta, 2 Delta p/c on the bridge and bass amp, Synergestic dev p/c on the 200, all connected to Shunyata Denali power conditioner

@ Duomike - yes a direct ethernet connection from Mac Mini to Devialet should work. I have not however tried it with AIR3.
It has been a while since I have done this, you should assign a fixed IP address to the Devialet, you can do that in the Configurator.
I would start with a ethernet cable that supports CAT5e ( or CAT6/CAT7 ). Or whatever you have lying around, that is to first determine if the setup works for you. Be sure to enable Ethernet on the Devialet in the configurator ( as you noted )
I believe a few other users here are using AIR3 with Audirvana, so I would defer to them for any specifics related to Audirvana setup.
Let us know how you fare with this.

Thanks for your comments, baddog. Seems like nobody is using a direct ethernet connection between their mac or windows to the dev. Believe most peoples have a router or switch inbetween which I do not have.
I think I will wait for the final release before trying AIR3. Will be away travelling soon for 2 weeks anyway so maybe on my return the final version will be available.

Hey Duomike - while that may be true that most folks are not using the direct ethernet connection, it will work. I used to do so but have now wired my room with two ethernet outlets. Otherwise I would be doing so.

My setup with Air 3, which sounds great, is "somewhat" direct from our Macbook, via wifi to an Airport Express, the express is then by ethernet into the D400.
Not sure if this helps.

After 2 days of listening to AIR3.0, now I'm back to my old RoonBridge setup on Ultrabook/Win8.1/AIR2.1.3/JPlay6.2/Fidelizer7.2. The difference is very minimal. I would probably have to admit I still prefer this old setup over AIR3.0. I'm now even testing it on wireless connection to a wireless router, achieving merely 150mbps connection only.

Out of curiosity, do you play high-res music files with this wireless config? And, no problem at all?
