I used "preamp" intentionally for the preamp explanation to make sure we don't get into this analog to digital discussion 
. I agree that all Devialets receive the same 100% digital signal.
My warnings are arguments for anyone who says that "from the link cable I heard a difference in sound quality" which only applies to the amplifier which does not receive the input signal directly but through the link cable.
In general, I agree there is no difference in sound quality between link cables, but if there is a difference, it only applies to the right or left channel, not the entire signal, that's what I am trying to express here.
