Are more details about DOS3 and hardware changes available?
#3
Hm there are some 'new' features with Dos 3.1.2. FIRMWARE (As reported by the DOS API as "available features" not found on previous gen Phantom speakers)

-Chromecast
-standby
-streamQuality

The 'device web app' configuration web page is updated, UX is new has a new function to set the startup volume, and an option to select channel mix as Left Front, Right Front, or Mono. As well in the app for the Ultimate some Sound options and settings that are new.  Thats probably the biggest change so far, the Android App updated and looks very different and has some new options for the Ultimate.  for some sound settings, tunings, profiles.  from an android device, Chomecast  just worked as the output from an android to the Ultimate 98.. that was kind of nifty...(but still only 16/44 near as i can tell)

For me so far DOS 3 just worked with existing APP using the DOS2 (IP Control interface v1) [i use this: https://halrad.com/slPhantomRemote/]

Out of the box updated Firmware - Restarted and so far, just has just worked as expected, via ETHERNET.

it showed up as an IP control endpoint and so far, works better (Ultimate98 seems a bit more responsive) than the Dos2 phantoms from an IP control standpoint...

and the Ultimate 98 optical is a mini-Toslink (round)

So far so good on what i have tried (chromecast)....and optical.  mono and stereo.

though i would miss the Dialog/ARCH but not sure if i will, though that is a HEAD SCRATCHER the old sources are not supported.  engineering team, you can do it...

i guess the realities is MANY (most even) probably just have nothing LOCAL and STREAM everything so it works. (meaning they can get away with it) probably some challenges in using the old code too... it all had to be PORTED to the new CPU for sure..

FWIW i have never seen the arch outputting anything other than 44/16. (as reported by the Devialet API)
but the Ultimate98 via SPIDF reports it as 96/20 (as reported by the Devialet API) probably not new but since my phantoms are on the wall and a pain to move never put the optical cable in...
so far noted these operational differences:

interesting the optical source is being reported as 20bit. (not sure where that 20bit is coming from yet) ... i think the source is 96/24 and its saying 96/20.?

Bluetooth shows x2 up for both endpoints in a pair. as in i see both LEFT and RIGHT Bluetooth sources but not tried to use either.
