No optical direct for Phantom Ultimate

I dropped by a Devialet showroom today and asked the salesperson about connecting Ultimate to TV, and I was told that as long as optical input is used, latency will be zero. Does that mean “direct optical” mode is already built-in? (and will be automatically used)
