The biggest change is the bass which seems more extended and tighter. The only downside so far is the control point (i'm using Kinsky which takes me back to my Linn days) so hopefully something better will come along from Melco.
What speakers are you using with the N1A James? Using Devialet's SAM? If so, at what setting? Started my digital file player journey with DIY build I discovered on computeraudiophile.com. Agree want of dedicated UPNP Melco control app main downside with N1A. Plenty on computeraudiophile.com bemoan the cost of most manufacturers' digital players, though I chuckle thinking just how much money many of them spend building and tweaking DIY kit. Miss my old Squeezebox Touch as the SQ listening to Swiss classical stations was pretty darn good, and at such an affordable price. Love to have my N1A file play + Squeezebox Touch (sound at price) as my digital tuner. People can praise Roon/Tidal till the cows come home, but I'm one who still enjoys good radio streaming.
