The first to do here is get a pair of shorting RCA plugs. If the D200 is silent with a shorted phono input you can concentrate on the wires/cable from the cartridge to the RCA plugs on the arm cable. Check the ground lead too. Not completely foolproof as a phono input behaves differently shorted and with a cartridge connected, but it is a good start.
