It is no "special" app, but the "Now Playing" Extension which you can keep in the Apple Watch dock if you like. It would show e.g. iTunes when you would run iTunes on your iPhone. When you run Spark however, it shows Spark instead. The same appears on your iPhones Lock screen (left swipe). So there is no need for additional installs, iOS/watchOS would show/switch automatically.
