Anyone experimented with mains cable?

What experiences and recommendations?

I don’t believe that connection type, or quality effects the audio quality or sound staging or anything to do with the final output.

However a bad connection on either Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or PLC could cause drop outs of the speaker or the music to cut out unexpectedly.

The Phantom just takes the digital file directly and decodes it on device. Like a download. Rather than a stream. So connection quality is not going to effect that files quality. Only how fast it is sent (which is what causes a cutout of the audio). Devialet specifically made sure that the files sent to the Phantoms are sent in their entirety. Completely. No compression of any kind. So cutouts are more prone. But audio quality is ALWAYS 100%.

A pair of Phantoms is the same except all connected components on the network that are in that pair will decode the audio file and whichever one gets the faster download of the file will be the one to do final decoding and split it to the rest of the group.
