Are Phantoms boring... now that they work perfect?
#8
As soon as Dialog/Phantom is Roon RAAT equipped I might sell my 250 Pro CI and go for a pair of Phantoms. I tried Phantoms a long time ago and liked what I heard. This was before I had Roon (and before Roon DSP).
If I can create a DRC filter that fixes the lack of driver time alignment in Phantom I am sure to get good sound. The only alternative to this is the Kii Three or Dutch & Dutch 8C. Both being more than twice the price of Golds. I do not think Phantom is boring at all! The Kii or Dutch & Dutch may give better sound due to the cardioid response pattern, but it is difficult to get past the price difference.
