Despite the lack of activities of Devialet on the Expert, which to me is reflective of its stability, the latest issue of Stereophile has a glowing review on the 140 Pro.
Not sure why such a late review on a product that has been on the marker for such length. The writer has nothing but praise for it.
It is kind of a reassurance of us existing owners that we should be content of what we have, it compares well with the best of them.
I would be totally happy with these machines if they implement a couple features that allows me to take advantage of the amazing flexibility of the machine without having to do cumbersome things with the SD card, which is a flaky process requiring multiple steps, and in the case of the mono units like my D440s, often is a scary process with the slave unit refusing to join the master after a reset.
What I propose should be entirely possible if Devialet decides to listen. What we need is the ability to change and update the configuration "on the fly" via the Ethernet. Both for permanent configurations or simple changes like tone control, SAM level and phono. You can do some of these functions via the remote "block", but one has to walk over to the Devialet's tiny screen whoch totally defeats the purpose of the remote in the first place.
Also, the ability to access the configurator from a phone of Pad would be very handy.
They have an excellent base but somehow they fail to allow the user to fully take advantage of it.
Also, I have always asserted that i would be glad to pay extra for a remote with a LED screen that would be so much better than flying blind. For goodness sake we cannot even tell the volume without using the useless and flaky iphone app.
