In the router (Synology 2600) I can see that the audio is sent to the right speaker - in my situation the right is the master and the left is the slave. My conclusion is that the master speaker is the one you have connected to the ether-net cable. Running DOS2 and very, very happy with audio performance, still on firmware 2.8.1 though...
