Mmm, not select new features that you may or may not know you've selected…. good thinking.. very foolproof!

I'm pretty sure I didn't select any new features with a config that wouldn't work with 7.1.1, I just didn't turn OFF the DPM feature…..

Will be interesting to see if I get the same response back.  I bundled in a lot of other questions so may be a while...

I received a slightly different response from support today about the backwards compatibility, so perhaps they have modified the Configurator so it generates files suitable for 7.X and earlier.

I asked several questions so here's the relevant bit (the rest was frustrating BS):

Thank you very much for your message and feedback.

To answer questions, that we discussed with our engineer:

Current configurator is fully compatible with 7.1.1. New features from 8.0 on the configurator will be ignored by 7.x versions. Please send us your configuration file for inspection.

Playing back DSD files via USB, there is an audible click when the decoder switches to DSD at the start of the first track and between tracks. Is this a feature of DoP? I have heard it on other decoders, can it be avoided?

Hello,
same click here at the start of the first track (not between tracks with only .dsf tracks). I would like to avoid it too, but I don't think there is a solution. I'm using a dual PC system with Jplay6, minimserver + Linn Kazoo. What is your source?
  Best regards,
Sylvain

G, I'd love to but I didn't manage to get 8.0 working or if it is the configurator!? Sadly I can't even config my old configurations. I am stuck with 7.1.3 and my last config before 8.0.

They could simply add some functions like ICM On/Off or Sub on/off to the tone control menu so that you can toggle them with the wheel or with the second button.
Maybe not the best solution but better than not being able to access some functions at all.

Or a new remote with display etc, like Guillaume suggested jokingly about the Quad remote...

Sylvan, I am using a Win 8.1 laptop, jriver 20 and dsf files. I might give jplay a try if you are not hearing clicks between tracks, I don't mind so much at the start. Thanks and best regards.

When in pass thru mode temperature is now also 41C same as with normal audio listening. Used to be 58C. Great improvement.

For me, with DPM on, it was 40C... Yesterday, I changed the config and put DPM off and temp. read 50C. Same volume, no hi rez, just normal 16/44. But I do prefer without DPM.
