AIR 3 Beta for Mac

This thread opened on 11th May, I tried AIR 3.0 as soon as I could and today is 4th day. After initial hick ups (MacBook sound output setting) it's working perfectly ever since. No issues with Roon-Tidal too. You may want to check settings- Roon, AIR, MacBook, Dev ETH connection, etc. Good luck!

Only issue is I now need to wire(Cat6?) all my wifi boxes so I don't have to get my MacBookAir to my listening room.

Did you try settings that are listed in this thread?

I did ..followed your tips,been using imac-roon- air -ethernet to Devialet now since day one of this upgrade.
Only one restart when configureated Roon first time,working perfect since then,and my dev has been running 24/7 (changing speaker cables)
Its working 100% , no drops or whatever so far ,only downside is that my transporter now is unused ,and new streamer is out of my plans if this works, also this Ur thing seems not to be not needed

Just want to mention that all my music files are from itunes intergrated in Roon in ALAC quality 44/16

Last night I played a few more songs. I'm not patient enough to wait 20 whole second, so that didn't cross my mind to try. What worked was clicking on the "Stop" button (pauze doesn't work) and after that again selecting the song. It's just a problem when you play songs with different sample rates. Since Guillaume doesn't have this problem with version 1.5 it could be a problem with the interaction between AIR and Audirvana 2.x. I'm going to try some different settings coming weekend.

Yep, I've found exactly the same. The '20 seconds' was a bit of an exaggeration. I tried again and it's maybe 5-10 seconds with stop/play perhaps repeating it a few times. It's not a big deal but is a little confusing.

I've unchecked "Direct Mode". That seems to have tackled it. Switching between samplerates is working now.

Thanks, good call on disabling Direct Mode - Air3 now works properly and plays differing bitrates consecutively without problems (add usual Devialet qualification of "For the moment" here).

I had only problems with AIR3. After a few minutes playing with ROON the music stopped and the Mac OS crashed.

After uninstalling AIR 3 everything is ok.

I think it's becoming obvious that Roon and AIR 3 don't mix well. I know a few on here have managed it but with everyone using different versions of OSX and with different network setups it's difficult to be sure where the issue(s) lie.

I suggest you try it with plain ol' iTunes or Audirvana Plus (with direct mode deactivated). That would at least point the finger at ROON which would be helpful from Devialet's point of view.

It goes without saying but as per Antoine's post I hope everyone is emailing their feedback to Devialet with full system details.

Up to several minutes nice sound quality, then my Mac mini freezes completely. Then I to switch it off an on again. It doesn't matter if I use exclusive/direct mode in Roon or not.
I know it's beta software, but knowing Devialet I do not expect that this will be fixed in the final version.
And no, I do not think this acceptable.
I do expect Air to work with EVERY music manager. And Roon is not an exotic one.

Right, but this is a beta so please send your feedback to Devialet since this is not an official Devialet forum and I cannot guarantee that Devialet will see your post. That's if you haven't done so already! Thanks!

Easy to get frustrated here, and I got very angry yesterday, but careful sifting of the details posted in this thread suggest that the following configuration seems to be necessary for use with Roon:

Exclusive Mode
Integer Mode
Max HW Buffer Size
Power-of-2 HW Buffer

Then, 500mS AIR delay, and 0.1s Roon Resync delay.

For me, this is now playing 192/24 for 1 hour without issues, so I am hopeful.

Previously, I was getting the same issues as posted earlier (maximum 30 seconds, then a hard reset needed)

Let's see . . . .

This was the work of Jnan_devi and others, so if it succeeds then we have to thank them !

p.s. I am using Roon on a NUC going to my iMac running RoonBridge for the AIR output.

And yes - the SQ is quite outstanding. I am keeping everything crossed that this is stable, after so many months of disappointment.
