New product launch?

Actually I did mean what I wrote - AIR 2 wi-fi has worked perfectly for me for the last two years. I can stream 24/96 content for hours with no issues, ever. The only qualifier is that I used OSX 10.6.8 to do it.

I'm now on AIR 3 because it sounds a lot better to me than AIR 2.

Ethernet works perfectly for me as well using osx 10.9 Mavericks with air 2.1.2. I tried to move to air 2.1.3 bit I had a lot of drops and crackling so I reverted back.

There should be a special analog of Godwin's Law for Devialet Chat, something like:

As a DC thread grows, the probability that it will turn into an alternating sequence of "AIR works/does not work for me" posts tends to unity.

So you think the person that is complaining is doing something wrong or should invest in a mac with OSX 10.6.8?  I don't get the point of your response and it gets a little sick and tiring hearing the handful of members that feel they should defend Devialet because "It works perfectly for them". It is very obvious from the dozens of threads and thousand of posts on this forum Air 2.x is broken.

Maybe just maybe agree that it should be fixed for the rest of us owners that can't get it stable instead of defending Devialet or rubbing it in or whatever you guys are doing.

AIR doesn't work for a lot of people who upgraded their Dev years ago in order to get wireless streaming. Which is a shame.
And now they come up with another upgrade. Still can't believe they're getting away with this.

By the way, could someone explain me why Air should sound better than USB? Cause with (asynchronous) USB, the DEV get the data, and manage with it's DAC, and that's all? Finally, doesn't matter how the data get into the devialet ?

Ps : hope it's not a kind of Godwin's law...

Hello,

Wondering what you mean by "shoddy".......I've just recently hard wired Ethernet and all appears to be working reasonably well.  Is there an issue that I am not aware of?

Cheers,
Warren
It works But it also sends an unnecessary amount of packets on the wire resulting in slowed response times for other devices also using Ethernet. This has been discussed off and on for sometime now. It will hopefully be fixed this time.

Just doing some simple calculations. With the 800 going to 1000 that's an increase of 25% so (speculating, like the last 48 pages) that brings us from:

120/200/250/400/800 to

150/250/310-ish/500/1000

That means the old 170 could end up being a 250 on steroids. Not knowing the price of admission yet, it looks like an upgraded 170 could be an absolute bargain.

Now, there has been quite a bit of complaining going on in the past about AIR and Devialet's hopeless communication skills but, just looking at it as a stand alone DAC/Amplifier that's possibly going to sound like nothing else out there for even double the money I think Devialet can still be pretty chuffed with their achievements.
