Only teasing Phoenix - you have to admit the "listen once and then the magic is lost for ever" is something the masses will find a little ridiculous?

I would happily buy the vinyl if that is normal top quality 180g / quiex kind of money - but there seems no info at all about that - any clues?

Also thanks for teaching me about the Wu Tang release - most interesting. Seems it went to a really nice guy anyway, who appears to be hoarding other unreleased music so no one can hear it - as well as hiking up his company's drug prices so one can afford them!

To Wdw: Yes, it would be unthinkable to release these treasures only on LPs. We won't repeat the Wu-Tang Clan story with Shkreli! That's why the Cds and the digital will come later. Though, with every LP, you'll have a personal code to download the 16bit format audio files. But if you can, I warmly recommend you to buy the LPs: the quality is absolutely unique and no more than the 900 units will be made. Ever.

The Sarah Vaughan sounds extraordinary in my opinion too. But you didn't listen to the other ones... The work we managed to do on the original 1961 Peterson is completely stunning.
Concerning the Evans, it's a worldwide event as well: it's the only other recordings we know nowadays with Gomez and Dejohnette and in 1968, just after his Grammy Award.

Alandbush: exactly. We are working on a page dedicated to Phoenix which will be released in a few days.

@Confused: 100% analogue domain wouldn't mean "remastered". I see you coming: I know that some guys will tell you never do a double AD-DA conversion. There are some reasons to that. And they can be right but they ignore the gain we obtain on the other hand when you use the Phoenix process... By the way, it reminds me that when you study electronics, teachers will tell you to never combine a class A with a class D amplifiers as well ;-)

And Folks, yes, the lacquers will be very expensive because there are very expensive and very complicated to make but in my opinion, if you have the right devices to play them and if you have the chance to afford them, they are far the most amazing audio medium possible. It's really a lifetime experience.

Let me friendly tell you that you're wrong about Devialet: their ambition is not to earn some thousands of euros on some records... They definitely want to sell millions of amplifiers and speakers!

Don't judge us too quickly. Listen to these recordings and you'll understand why Devialet was thrilled about the whole project and why every major recordings company want to talk to us since a few weeks. ;-)

I can't wait for your feedbacks when the recordings will be released.

Phoenix, thank you so much for coming one here and sharing all this with us. You are most welcome here.  It would be great to learn more about the "Phoenix" remastering process and what makes it so unique.

Also are there any plans to create high res PCM and DSD copies of these recordings? I believe DSD might help convey some of the "warmth" of the original recordings? I know it can be a controversial subject (especially with some engineers ) but I do think that DSD done well can sound pretty amazing... what do you think?

@Jamington: really, again. The Lacquers is of course not a mass product. As a bottle of Romanée-Conti is... That doesn't mean it's ridiculous ;-) Even if I can understand your point, don't wait for me to tell you it's a bad idea, it is really not.

The vinyl is 180g of course: I'm a LP lover so we tried everything and the LP is the best quality you can produce nowadays for a 33rpm.

@Guillaume: Thanks Guillaume for your kind words! Yes, the 24bit 176.4 kHz files will be also available on Fondamenta website. Only PCM. No DSD. If you plan to release some Lps and Cds, there's no sense to work under DSD. The LPs and CDs will be worse than if you work on hi-res PCM.

Concerning Phoenix Mastering, everything we can tell will be on our website soon.

You should listen to some of the Fondamenta recordings. Their 176 files are extraordinarily warm and natural. My Grimm does native DSD but for most Devialet users this will be as good or better I think.

I have purchased some tracks on the Fundamenta website. These are from the first Phoenix album: Andre Navarra, the Cello Phoenix Collection.

First of all I wasn't able to purchase all the tracks since only some in HD are available for download.

Second - after purchasing - I received an email with the download links. Unfortunately the links don't download but rather stream via Safari if that makes sense... and now the first track link is giving me an access denied message..

That's strange. I wonder if that's UK specific. I downloaded the whole thing via Safari flawlessly. It took a while because it's an enormous file. I'm sure Phoenix will be able to help you.

I'm particularly taken with the Kodaly on that collection.

I'm very curious to hear what you think. The dynamic slam on the Saint Saens on my system is phenomenal, as well as the color palette of the cello.
