SAM lab - Australian news for SAM lab.. read if you want your speakers samed.
#29
Thanks Antoine! I thought about that after I posted but wondered even with the XO differences could low-volume auditioning really be destructive or harmful on very closely matched speakers? My setup is in the near field and my volume has yet to see higher than -28. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I would think I'd hear something REALLY destructive long before I approached a volume where physical damage could occur. I would think I'd be no worse off than a few SAM profiles people have tried at higher volumes with awful results. 'Course I could be wrong but wondering. What say thee?

*EDIT* I did just try more volume and got it down to -16 but I'm sure the neighbors could hear it and it was WAY too loud for anything resembling pleasure... but then so is -24 tho I might be able to tolerate -26 short term. Most days I'm at -30 to -32 for critical listening and -40 for background music. I can honestly say it'll never see -16 again while in my keep!
Statements in my posts are opinion only, not to be construed as fact. Any projects I engage in are at my own risk! Their outcome cannot be assured and may result in success, small/no change or catastrophic failure. I encourage no one rely on anything I say or do as gospel and to realize your mileage may vary!
