I haven't tried USB or Ethernet yet since I am struggling to get my updated to 800 units working as they should but can say that Air is working fine with default settings, in terms of dropouts.
I don't find Time Machine backups to be a problem (apart from the noise of the backup disc). Another computer on the network -may- use enough bandwidth to cause dropouts and Android is pretty well guaranteed to cause reasonably frequent dropouts IME.

Devialet Original d'Atelier 44 Core, Job Pre/225, Goldmund PH2, Goldmund Reference/T3f /Ortofon A90, Goldmund Mimesis 36+ & Chord Blu, iMac/Air, Lynx Theta, Tune Audio Anima, Goldmund Epilog 1&2, REL Studio. Dialog, Silver Phantoms, Branch stands, copper cables (mainly).
