My main reason for going battery is very unstable electricity supply here - brownouts , spikes and rolling blackouts lasting 2-3 hours a time .. surges when the switch it back on.
Batteries are charged via solar panels and normal supply
Whatever the case is , the system runs thru the batteries and always does ac to DC and then regenerated ac and will only switch to mains direct if the batts get as low as 40% charge as lower than that is not good for deep cycle batteries. If there is no mains supply , the batts will deliver as long as they have capacity to do so
The hifi could possibly consume more than 5kva , as the subs are 1kw class d amps and can do 3kw peaks...
But playing at ear splitting levels with everything maxed and deep deep low bass , the worst I have seen via the system is about 1.2kw .. other stuff like a tv , router , satellite , led lights etc also get the feed.. maybe 350watts in total
6 x 200ah batts will give me about 15 hours at a 2kva load at more than 40% capacity .. standby will maybe be 10x that.. solar and mains charging takes care of standby draining. I have never seen less than 80% capacity on the inverter/batteries
The system cost around $3500..
As to sonics.. well no juice - no music , but it didnt sound any worse with the system in place.. I tried a few power chords , but heard no difference with them.
