Thinking about all this, I notice that three key things are absent from Devialet's announcement.  The first one is obvious, prices!  The second one is that there is no mention of the 'EVO' platform.  Now I do not think I know enough about the subtitles of the Devialet's internal architecture to be sure of this, but I am assuming that with the new model and upgrade, the EVO platform survives unchanged.  (does the EVO platform exist as a discrete board?)  This means that any future firmware upgrades should be available to owners of both the current and forthcoming range.  This perhaps lends some weight to the theory that skipping a model or upgrade is the path to best value.  OK, those who do not upgrade will miss out on an SQ hike, but functionality and future firmware upgrades will be the same for all.

The other big thing missing was any mention of the widely rumoured streamer board.  Until details and pricing are know, I have no idea if this new board interests me or not.  However, lets assume that when details are known, I decide that yes, I would like this new streamer upgrade.  The one thing I do not want to do is send my lovely unmolested D800 back to France twice, once for the 'ZERO' upgrade as announced, then later for the new streamer board.  That would be bad.  So I am assuming details of the new streamer board will be available soon?  However, I had assumed that when Devialet finally announced the new models and upgrades, they would also announce pricing, and that didn't happen!  Plus, will the new Devialet Plus (or is it Devialet ZERO) range becomes available, does this have a choice of streamer boards, or just the new one?  Which of course leads to the question, does the new streamer board support AIR, or will this be phased out now?

Rumours are the streamer upgrade will be in 2017 and dealers are able to perform this. I do think, but i'm not sure, this will require the new hardware upgrade to be done first.
