Hello,
I´m a Melco N1A owner since six weeks now.
I decided to buy the Melco after a Devialet show at the Hifi shop where I had bought my Devialet. The german distributor of Devialet used the Melco, so I had the first contact with the "Audio-NAS" along with my preferred amp.
Before, I played a mac mini with itunes over AIR ethernet. I always was more than content with sound quality, but with every update of the OSX the mac mini got a little bit slower and the cooperation with AIR got a little bit worse. As I said there was no degradation of sound quality, to say the truth, sound quality is getting always better since I bought my amp.
But I got a little upset of the attention the computer needed to play...updates and so on...I bet a lot of you know what I mean.
After six weeks with the Melco I have to say this is a very good way to store and to play audio files with the Devialet.
You will have your own listening session to decide, but I am very pleased.
In my ears it is sounding better. A lot. Better in all aspects, but two aspects are more remarkable: Voices are so present and holographic. The background is even more darker and more quiet.
Maybe the audio quality benefits from the absence of the computer in the audio chain. A computer certainly produces his amount of EMC troubles and is anyway not a natural born audio player.
It has things simplified again: switch the on button and after a few seconds you are ready to play. Switch the off button and you are done. USB connection is stable and never failed.
What is not so good: I operate the Melco with Linn Kinsky. This works stable, but the look is so old fashioned and possibilities are restricted.
So I am waiting for the Melco app (with great expectations).
Really great would be the integration of roon.
I wish a happy new year to all forum members!
