Maybe it's time to really consider the Aurender
I can understand that.
I also once thought about getting something else, I especially looked at the Antipodes server since they have really good reviews e.g. from DAR but they are quite pricey and really hard to get here in the EU.
But since it's working quite fine for me with the BubbleUpnp app and I'm ok with local and Tidal streaming (without Roon for now), I decided to stay with the Melco for now. And who knows what the new mysterious streaming board will bring, then you really might need the Melco only as NAS from there on, or maybe not...
You make a good point, but I won't get the streaming board as I won't be upgrading. At the time if purchase I was told the app was imminent , that's what's annoying. So after a full year maybe it's time to look at the Aurender. The Melco is a great piece if kit and good value , but it's pretty ugly IMO , and the lack of app is Noe starting to wear me out :-)
I have considered buying an android device for bubble upnp but not sure how much better it is than the Lumin app I am currently using
Yes, the thing with the proclaimed app really is annoying. But at least I can assure you, that it's really working fine and without any serious complaints with the BubbleUpnp app.
