Hi Carcrashboy, it sure is a great find by Romaz! Glad you're enjoying it as much as I do. I didn't initially notice the bright-/thinness myself so I'm not really sure if it's because of something I changed after the initial direct connection change or if it's the phenomenon of hearing negatives later in time when one gets used to the new sound. I do know more people have reported it and of course it's something that can work out either great or not so much depending on the system and listener preferences. Great that you seem to have found a solution in the form of the SOTM isolator (which I too find a bit expensive for an isolator @350 euro).
Romaz is pioneering some more right now on the subject of clocks in the intermediate path in between the music server and sMS-200 (and the SMS-200 itself). I'm following his findings closely. And although I of course knew about the existance of 'audiophile' switches like the one produced/modded by Paul Pang it sure is interesting and again surprising to read that such a device in between can further improve things over a direct connection, a bit like a USB Regen but then for an ethernet interface.
AQVox has also released an "Audiophile High-End Network Switch" recently. It's about €400, a bit steep as in it's basis it's a 20 euro switch but of course that's how this business works. More info on that switch here: http://www.myhifishop.de/Devices/AQ-SWIT...anguage=en
Next week Uptone Audio will announce a new USB Regen like device which supposedly has real galvanic isolation (like the Intona) and some other as yet unknown improvements/functionality (http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac...post638938). They're also thinking about/working on similar devices for ethernet (isolation, reclocking). I've seen Alex C. of Uptone mentioning (http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f10-mu...post633980) that such a product will not be released this year though.
And then in April there's the sMS-200 Ultra, I've read existing 200's can be upgraded but no details like pricing known right now. I did read that the LPS-1 will probably not be able to power it so that's something people having one (or thinking of getting one) should know. Sonore is not working on an upgraded microRendu now. Jesus wrote that they are working on improvements/additional functionality though in software.

Still waiting for all the SATA cables. The first two (Akasa 45cm) arrived today.
While I'm posting, I'll add an updated system diagram of my system here:
