The optical direct mode is also available for DOS1. You'll need an IPhone and the Phantom app, not Spark.

1: launch Phantom app (not Spark)
2: restart Phantom (3 clicks)
3: pair Phantom with app
4: on app, tap ten times between “mute” and “night” icons
5: select Optical Direct mode
6: select channel (L/R/mix)
7: select max. output level 0dB/-12dB

I haven't tried this "recipe" myself, but it should work.
Are your speakers too old for the DOS2 update?

That’l be the showstopper then Huh . I still work with the Dialog on Spark. Works like a charm so far. A bit afraid to disturb the perfect working situation. I believe the change to DOS1 is not without its problems? Is direct optical out also an option in tne basic standard setup with the dialog?

If you are using Spark, you are using DOS1. DOS2 is the new operating system. I have migrated to DOS2 without any problems and can wholeheartedly recommend it. DOS 2.12.5 has been dead stable for me.
Living room: Kii Three/BXT with Control.
Den: Tannoy Precision 8 iDP with TS112 iDP subwoofer.
In the cupboard, waiting for a sibling: 1st gen. Phantom Silver running DOS1
