Well a day of experimenting
When using Air the troublesome album plays no bother at all.
When using the Melco it does not. When the track is played as a single track it plays to the end no problem at all. When played as part of an album it cuts off approximately 2 seconds before the end of the track.
The lack of Ipad control makes Air a non starter for me, but I may do a little music listening to see if I can hear a difference between this and the Melco in the chain.
So for me now its back to the Melco or go for Roon.
