My first few days with Roon

I then revisited my posts about my initial impressions from when I first introduced the Melco and it was the improved bass performance that stood out for me back then. The Melco get the PC out of the chain and maybe this is why it just sounds better to me. By using Roon I am effectively sticking the PC back in the chain. I can live with this now ……but only if I can get similar SQ. This is my dilemma.

There are lots of ways to improve SQ of Roon. For example:

1. Make sure you follow all Roon's recommendations regarding SQ. https://kb.roonlabs.com/Sound_Quality
   
2. Roon DSP helps doing digital room correction if you have problems with bass. You need a microphone for taking measurements. http://blog.roonlabs.com/digital-room-correction/
   
3. Roon DSP can do upsampling and it might increase SQ slightly. It's worth a try to upsample everything to 192 kHz. https://kb.roonlabs.com/DSP_Engine:_Samp...Conversion
   
4. You could start using HQPlayer together with Roon. Upsampling in HQPlayer definitely improves/changes SQ. The only problem with this setup is that you have to use Devialet AIR driver and it might not work so well on Windows 10. https://kb.roonlabs.com/HQPlayer_Setup
   
5. You could change your Melco to something that runs Roon Server. Like for example Innuos Zenith Mk2. Some people have reported even increased SQ when using Innuos instead of Melco.  http://forums.naimaudio.com/topic/stream...6361222353
   
6. You could start using Roon Ready endpoints like Sonore ultraRendu or Sotm-sms200 ultra. Even better if you use use them together with Mutec MC3+ USB. Many people have found this combination (Sonore/Sotm and Mutec) sounding better than Devialet AIR.

Points 1 and 3 I will have a look at and do some reading when i get the chance
Point 2 .....I wont be going to that length to sort this out , but again thank you for suggestion
Point 4 I will be avoiding anything to do with Air as I had such a bad experience in the past. i know it has improved but I will try and avoid it

Points 5 and 6 . Yes this is something that I would definitely consider if Roon is the way forward. After just 2 days I cant see me giving it up........IT JUST WORKS

The Melco will be virtually redundant. I wont need a CD ripper either as I have just stopped doing this or buying any more.
So yes if I go Roon the Melco can be sold to fund something that is Roon ready.
