"Audiophile Grade" Ethernet Switches - The new generation
@Confused

Thanks for that. It sounds promising.

I think the problem we're all going to face, regardless of our symptoms, is simply the fact that an AB comparison, whether it be sighted, blind or double blind, is really not going to be viable. Armin on ASR talks about quickly swapping a single ethernet cable butty feeling is that most of us a re going to have to do a bit more than that.

In my case I'm currently using a Cisco SG1100D-05 switch to connect both my Nucleus+ and Devialet to my netwrk but replacing the Cisco switch with the ER requires disconnecting 3 cables from the Cisco and connecting them to the ER. That takes a few seconds and I can probably do it in under 5 seconds which is the maximum buffer I can set in Roon but I've then got to get back to my seat and try and get into the same listening frame of mind as I was in before I got up to make the swap and my frame of mind isn't going to change immediately I'm back in my seat. Experience tells me it usually takes me a couple of minutes to get back to critical listening mode after making a change in my system.

I can cut that process down. I can connect the ER to the Cisco switch and then simply disconnect the Devialet's cable from the Cisco and connect it to the ER but the problem with that is that my aim is to replace the Cisco and only have one switch in the system, not retain the Cisco and have 2 switches connected to each other. Would having the Cisco feeding the ER make a difference to what I hear? I don't know but the only way to answer that is to have another listening test where I compare having the 2 switches connected to a setup where I've disconnected the Nucleus+ and network from the Cisco and then connected them to the ER instead of the Cisco. What I want to do is to compare what I'm doing now to what I want to do which is simply replacing the Cisco with the ER and there's no way to make that comparison without disconnecting 3 cables from one device and connecting them to the second device. Simple and quick A/B comparisons simply aren't possible, even in what is essentially a very simple networked system.
Roon Nucleus+, Devilalet Expert 140 Pro CI, Focal Sopra 2, PS Audio P12, Keces P8 LPS, Uptone Audio EtherREGEN with optical fibre link to my router, Shunyata Alpha NR and Sigma NR power cables, Shunyata Sigma ethernet cables, Shunyata Alpha V2 speaker cables, Grand Prix Audio Monaco rack, RealTRAPS acoustic treatment.
