I understand that it is believed by some that "tree spirits" live in seasonal decorations, and that before the end of twelfth night they need to be released outside in order to usher in a fertile spring period through the coming year.
Personally, I do not believe in tree spirits, but mindful of all the other bad stuff going on in the world at the moment, is it really worth the risk?
