thanks for the welcome and response Axel!
I have tried enabling the USB (as an input) in the Configurator, and also tried disabling it (thinking it *might* need to be disabled to act as an output) but with the same (null) result. Yeah, USB drivers are up to date. Using OSX 10.14, latest Audacity (installed today).
